#8 Ice and Surprise
It was n(ice) having you!
Because I am late posting my Sunday Posts means that there is two goodies at once for you today!
As previously mentioned I had quite a busy week and weekend. Not just, because my friends and I yet again had a full week of university courses and sightseeing activities. But also, because two very special people, Mel and Monty (friends from my Hamburg university) have decided to come by and visit me for the weekend. As a surprise!!!
Let me start from the beginning.
Monday was the typical "Strategy - grocery shopping - yoga" day.
Tuesday however, we went to go to the "Oslo Ice Bar", a bar completely made out of ice - even the glasses! While I had seen similar things in New Zealand and Finland before, it was still cool going there with my Oslo friends. We got to enjoy a typical Norwegian wine, made out of some sort of berry. Very tasty!
On Wednesday, to continue the icy story, we finally kept our promise and went ice skating with Clemens - who had previously missed out on the opportunity. While I could barely do some skating on my on without loosing balance, I was lucky to Alicia and Emma accompany me. We skated along the rink whilst holding hands and talked about Emma's previous trip to Paris the weekend before. The boys had lots of fun, too.
Thursday continued with a meeting of the "BI Outdoor Committee" at the student pub "Kroa". Me and Jonas were able to sign up last minute and joined the meeting on a short notice. However, it was pretty nice meeting new people, plus there was free pizza and a good DJ!
Friday came around and I was feeling like a nice and quiet weekend. However, Jonas had other plans. I knew one of his friends was coming to Oslo that weekend, but I figured he was going to do something with him on his own. He kept pressuring me, saying stuff like "Paula, you definitely have to be there this Friday" and "Be at mine around 6pm!". I said yes, but all I was thinking was how I could weasel myself out of Friday night partying. I decided to just join Jonas and his friend at Jonas' flat and do some "predrinking" with them, only to excuse myself afterwards and retire to Netflix and my bed. But boy was I surprised, when I walked in and saw Mel and Monty sitting at the kitchen table like nothing special was going on. I was so stunned, I could actually not believe it at first. Obviously, I knew that I wasn't hallucinating. I also knew though, that Mel and Monty were supposed to be in Hamburg and that I see them sitting at a table in my student housing in Oslo. So what the heck was going on?
Turns out, Mel and Monty booked a spontaneous trip to Oslo from Friday until Sunday to surprise me and to get to know some Norwegian culture (and girls ;-) ). I was so happy and excited. We went on partying the whole weekend (Friday AND Saturday). Although the boys had quite the night on Friday, we managed to meet up at 10:30am the next morning to go sightseeing in Oslo. The weather was on our side, not raining the whole day and we actually saw all the very important tourist attractions!
Best - Surprise - Ever
